Blenheim Palace and the Cotswolds.

The morning is spent at Blenheim Palace. After a 35 minute guided tour of the State Rooms there is time to stroll through the Formal Gardens and admire the magnificent Water Terraces. A drive through the beautiful Cotswolds brings you to Burford for a traditional pub lunch, followed by a couple of hours in nearby Bourton on the Water.

Leeds Castle and Canterbury.

A 40 minute guided tour of the Castle, then plenty of time to enjoy the attractions in the grounds. Don’t get lost in the maze! Guided tour of Canterbury and a visit to the Cathedral.

Stonehenge2007_07_30Stonehenge, Lacock and Bath.

Guided tour of Stonehenge and the new and impressive £26,000,000 visitor Centre. Pub lunch is in the very pretty National Trust village of Lacock, birthplace of photography, followed by a  guided tour of Bath and a visit to the Roman Bath Museum.

Hever Castle and Chartwell.

You can enjoy a private guided-tour of Hever Castle before it opens to the public. There are then four acres of award-winning formal gardens to enjoy, as well as a Yew maze and miniature model houses.  Chartwell, the family home of Sir Winston Churchill, now owned by the National Trust, is nearby.  An enthusiastic painter and gardener, Churchill loved Chartwell.

Stratford and Oxford.

Stratford on Avon is a lovely market town with many timber-framed buildings. We will visit the house where Shakespeare was born,  Anne Hathalway’s Cottage and Shakespeare’s grave. Stratford is an exciting place to be this year given the 400 years since Shakespeare’s death celebrations.

The drive through the Cotswolds to Oxford is beautiful. In Oxford we have a guided tour of Christchurch and of the town.

guardchangeThe Changing of the Guard and the Tower of London.

The coach will drop us off at Horse Guards, so we can follow the action down past St. James Palace to Buckingham Palace and Wellington Barracks. A panoramic coach tour across London takes us to the Tower of London for a guided tour and exploring.

Chawton  and Portsmouth.

Jane Austen’s  last home and where she wrote most of her mature novels, Chawton  House is in a pretty Hampshire village.  Portsmouth Historic Dock Yards have lots on offer. We have a guided tour of HMS Victory and HMS Warrior. The new Mary Rose Museum is also on offer.

Old SarumSalisbury and Old Sarum.

Enjoy a guided tour of both Salisbury Cathedral and Old Sarum. Built in the first half of the 13th century the Cathedral has inspired great poets and painters. Owned by English Heritage, Old Sarum is where the ruins of the earlier Medieval town lie.
